Slip Fit Design:  Incorporated Slip fits are designed to release tension and prevent the manifold from cracking. The slip fit design also facilitates installation. I don't know if you have ever tried to reinstall a Subaru manifold after it has been run, but without a slip fit, it's nearly impossible due to the runners moving after heat cycling.
